Our Advice

Get the number first

You can check your rate any time — the link is right there and it costs you nothing. But most people are better off getting the inspection and the actual price first.

Most roofs we look at don’t end up needing work. And when they do, the number is often smaller than people expect, or the insurance claim covers most of it. Pre-qualifying for an amount before you know what the job costs is guessing. Get the free inspection, get a real figure, then decide whether financing makes sense for it.

How It Works

Four steps, one soft credit check

  1. Check your rate.Answer a few questions on Acorn’s site. This is a soft credit pull — it does not affect your credit score.
  2. Compare real offers.Acorn is a marketplace, not a single lender. You’ll see offers from 20+ lenders side by side, usually in about a minute.
  3. Pick one and apply. You apply directly with the lender you choose. This step is a hard credit pull, and it can affect your score — so it only happens once you’ve decided.
  4. Funds come to you.The money goes to you, not to us. You pay Kingpost on the terms in your contract, the same as any other job.
Straight Answers

What we’ll tell you up front

There are no 0% offers

These are interest-bearing loans. Some contractors advertise 0% promotional financing and quietly build the lender’s fee into your price. We don’t pay dealer fees on this program, which is exactly why your price isn’t padded to cover one.

Smaller loans may carry a fee

Loans under $40,000 can carry a lender origination fee, typically 1–6%. That’s charged by the lender, not by us, and it will be disclosed to you before you accept anything.

Checking is safe. Applying is the real step.

Checking your rate is a soft pull with no credit impact. Formally applying with a lender is a hard pull that can affect your score. Know which one you’re doing.

No prepayment penalties

If you pay the loan off early, you aren’t penalized for it. Loan amounts run from $1,000 to $100,000, with terms from 2 to 20 years depending on the lender and the amount.

Insurance Jobs

If your claim is covering the work

Financing is mostly for cash-pay work — full replacements a homeowner is paying for directly. On an insurance-funded job, the claim generally covers the work and you’re responsible for your deductible.

We will not cover, discount, or rebate your deductible, and you should be wary of any contractor who offers to — it’s illegal in both Iowa and Nebraska, and it puts your claim at risk, not just theirs.
